Bricks & Brass Presents

Tallahassee’s newest event venue will be a space for more than private events. The Bricks & Brass Signature Events Series will add a continuous schedule of diverse and creative events that will showcase local Tallahassee talent and offerings.

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Four Points by Sheraton recently opened a new venue in the renovated building next to the iconic round hotel earlier this month. The historic “Mays-Munroe” building was purchased in late 2013 by the same ownership group of the Four Points by Sheraton and began the renovation process in mid 2018.

After 8-months of construction the project held its ribbon cutting event on February 7, 2019 followed by a Tallahassee Chamber “Business After Hours” event to show local business owners the transformation of the 70-year-old property.

The long-awaited renovation gained buzz right after the initial purchase by an online campaign started by the hotel group called #FinishTheBlock.

In 2013, the Four Points by Sheraton team explained the campaign by stating that they “wanted the community’s feedback. It was a chance for everyone to imagine a better Tallahassee and continue the energy and the motivation of redeveloping this entire area.”

After many submissions from the community that suggested various options from a coffee shop, to an arcade, the owners started the long process of planning, and re-planning to find the perfect final concept. They settled on a large, modern, and upscale event space that would increase the capacity of the hotel’s conference facility.

The management team of the Four Points started thinking of ways to incorporate some of the ideas from the old campaign.

“We knew that this space was going to be a beautiful venue for private events, but our team also had bigger ideas that would incorporate some of the feedback from the local community” said Kendyl Smith, Catering and Events manager for Four Points by Sheraton and Bricks & Brass.

Noticing that much of the feedback requested arts and culture options, the team decided to create The “Bricks & Brass Signature Events” series. The mission being to highlight the amazing talents that Tallahassee locals have to offer while adding entertainment options to the downtown area. Bricks & Brass will partner with local businesses, artists, and organizations and host continuous monthly events that can be enjoyed by everyone.

“By partnering with local businesses, vendors, and artists we hope to increase awareness of the variety of talent that this growing city has to offer” said Mark Xenophon, General Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton.

Some of the events include a Sunday fitness class that will feature a different style of fitness instructors each month in partnership with a local studio or private instructor. There will also be pop up art shows that will be dedicated to providing local artists a space to showcase their work to event guests. The events will range from live music, to visual art exhibits, performance arts, and more.

The first fitness event is on Sunday, March 3rd and the first Arts event is Wednesday, March 13th. The Four Points and Bricks & Brass team is hopeful that the events will help bring locals to the downtown area while also promoting local talent.
